Checklists for Shipping Lithium Batteries

New provisions for shipping lithium batteries by air are set to rollout in early 2013.  In an effort to make complying with these provisions a little bit easier for our friends in the industry,  Air Sea Containers has created a few easy to use Checklists for Shipping Lithium Batteries By Air.

Shipping lithium batteries has been a somewhat risky venture in previous years, presenting safety issues which have led to numerous accidents and in some cases death.  The problems arise when these lithium batteries short circuit and self-ignite causing fires which obviously can be extremely dangerous especially when shipping lithium batteries by air.

These Lithium Battery Shipping Checklists by Air Sea Containers should not only ensure that shipping professionals comply to the new provisions set in the 2013-2014 Edition of the ICAO Technical Instruction for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and the 54th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, but also help keep their employees and the rest of us safe from risks related to improper packaging and shipping of lithium batteries.
